As Pilgrims to the Realm of Peace

As pilgrims to the realm of peace
we swap our stories on the road.
Discarding battle-flag and gun,
we help to bear our neighbor’s load.

Our holy symbols come from home –
a kitchen table simply spread,
a festive meal that makes us friends,
a jug of wine, a hunk of bread.

Pour out your Spirit, day by day
our verve and vision to increase.
Make us, as pilgrims on the road,
a preview of your realm of peace.

Awesome and Majestic Is Your Name, O God

Awesome and Majestic Is Your Name, O God
everywhere throughout the earth by all adored!
Sounds of babes and toddlers spread your fame abroad,
telling of the Trinity of Love!
Sing, God’s people –Holy! Holy! Holy! is the ONE and ONLY!
Raise your praises to glorify the Trinity of Love!

When I see with wonder on a starry night
worlds that take a million years to send us light
why should human beings matter in your sight,
far beneath the Trinity of Love?
Sing, God’s people –Holy! Holy! Holy! is the ONE and ONLY!
Raise your praises to glorify the Trinity of Love!

Beyond the Highest Hills

Beyond the Highest Hills
to God I look for aid,
whose praise my spirit fills,
who heaven and earth has made:
my shield and tower
when storms appear,
whose grace is near
in every hour.

Since you have given your word
To save my soul from death
I’ll trust you, loving God,
to guard my mortal breath.
I’ll go and come,
nor fear to die,
when from on high
you call me home.

Christ Jesus, on the night you were betrayed

Christ Jesus, on the night you were betrayed
you knelt to wash our feet, and called us “friends.”
Then from the heart, with all your heart you prayed
to God, the Life on whom all life depends,
that we would take the Way you had begun,
walk in your love, and in your love be one.

Forgive us when we do each other down
with gossip, insult, ridicule or guile,
or when we do not care enough to frown,
debate and differ, clash and reconcile.
Give us persistent zeal in all we do
to love as you loved us, and follow you.

Good Shepherd, through our glory, grief and shame
you pray for us, and daily, hour by hour,
lift every life and utter every name
with dying love and resurrection power.
A towel and a basin shall declare
our joint thanksgiving and your constant prayer.

Come, Spirit, Come and Shake Awake

Come, Spirit, Come and Shake Awake
a church that simply tries to keep
old habits undisturbed and make
a virtue out of stubborn sleep!
Revive and raise us to emerge
to faith that deepens and expands
and hopes that cheerfully diverge
from huddled fears and timid plans.

As in a stream that onward flows
from rapids into winding bends,
fill us with love that onward goes
through every fate our future sends.
Inspire us, claim us, make us one –
not stapled, shelved and neatly filed,
but yearning, “May your will be done!”
till all earth’s tribes are reconciled.

Give Thanks to God, for God Is Good

Give Thanks to God, for God Is Good
Everlasting love!
Let Israel say that God is good –
Everlasting love!
Let all the priests say, God is good –
Everlasting love!
Let all who pray say, God is good –
Everlasting love!

I called to God from deep distress.
God answered me and lifted me
to safe and level ground.
I look in triumph on my foes.
No human hand can do me harm
for God is at my side. Refrain –

Though I was falling, broken, bruised,
death could not keep me in its power:
I live to praise my God.
Glad songs of victory arise
from all who thirst for what is right,
alive again in God. Refrain –

Unlock the gates of righteousness,
that I may ride through them with joy
and praise the Living God!
Come in! The gates are open wide.
So enter, robed in righteousness,
and praise the Living God! Refrain–

How can we follow Jesus Christ

How can we follow Jesus Christ,
together, not alone –
a body, sent to show and share
the love to us made known?
We’ll gently join our scattered lives
through Scripture, prayer and song,
and sing, as each new week arrives,
“To Jesus we belong.”

How may we learn of Jesus Christ
from Muslim or from Jew
or in the deep distinctive worlds
of Buddhist and Hindu?
We’ll listen, and refuse the game
of who is right or wrong,
then if we’re asked, we’ll say again,
“To Jesus we belong.”

03:06
If Christ is Risen From the Dead

If Christ is Risen From the Dead
the Power that had him crucified
is over-trumped, as Life rebounds
to speak the first and final word.
Then let us live
with Easter hope
and trust that we, who go to dust,
will rise, as Christ is risen!

If Christ is risen from the dead,
then all that Jesus said and did
is true, and real, and filled with light,
our joy, our compass and our guide.
Then let us move
with Easter hope,
and trust that we, who go to dust,
will rise, as Christ is risen!

Give thanks for time to breathe and be,
for life and life-span to enjoy
the earth and air and sea and sky,
in Christ reborn, forgiven, loved.
Then let us sing
with Easter hope,
and trust that we, who go to dust,
will rise, as Christ is risen!

Sing Joyfully to God, Our Rock

Sing Joyfully to God, Our Rock
our life and liberation,
whose love outlasts all other loves
and has no expiration:
Your word, O God, made sea and land.
All heights and depths are in your hand:
We give you praise and glory.

Good Shepherd, still like sheep we stray
as idols tempt and fool us.
Our woes increase. We get no peace
without your love to rule us.
Come, seek and find us, bring us home.
Surrounded then by your Shalom,
we’ll give you praise and glory.

We’ll sing to you a glad new song
and spread your conversation
of peaceful justice righting wrong
through this, and every nation.
Let earth and sea and sky rejoice
and join us, as with heart and voice
we give you praise and glory.

Welcome as a child of God

Welcome as a child of God
all who enter through our doors:
Preach a vision that explores.
Follow Jesus Christ!
Follow Jesus Christ!
Preach a vision that explores.
Follow Jesus Christ!

Value as a gift of God
diff‘rences that God has made:
Be delighted, not afraid.
Follow Jesus Christ!
Follow Jesus Christ!
Be delighted, not afraid.
Follow Jesus Christ!

Seeking every child of God,
Step beyond each gated fence:
Offer love without pretense.
Follow Jesus Christ.
Follow Jesus Christ!
Offer love without pretense:
Follow Jesus Christ!

Let our world, our neighborhood,
change us as we hear the call:
“Value, seek and welcome all!”
Follow Jesus Christ!
Follow Jesus Christ!
Value, seek and welcome all!
Follow Jesus Christ!
